Young racers can live out their ultimate dreams with the Power Wheels Hot Wheels Racer ride-on vehicle from Fisher-Price. This epic ride-on combines the driving excellence of a Power Wheels vehicle, with Hot Wheels styling, graphics, and track play for a super-cool experience. Kids can launch and race their die-cast cars on the vehicle’s mounted track, then hop in the driver’s seat to create their own life-size racing adventures.
We love this chassis. It's durable. Good for on-road and off-road. And it takes modifications really well. We've designed upgrades for all speed levels and budgets. Here's some good package ideas based on past customer happiness feedback (we call it Dune Racer but the Hot Wheels Racer, Desert Racer and Baja Extreme are the same vehicle inside):
1. 12v Combo Kit - This kit is perfect for the entry level modder on a budget or if you're restoring an old car and just want a little more speed, about 10% more. The Performance 550 motors are on ball bearings and have cooling fans to make them last longer. They're also 18v capable so when you're ready for more speed you won't need to upgrade them. The Phoenix Gearboxes are the most durable gearboxes made today. And the 12v battery will give you over 30% more run time than a stock battery. Modifying doesn't get any more plug n play than this!
2. 18-20v Lithium Combo Kit - A popular trend is to use your power tool's batteries in your kid's car. It's economical but at a cost: the stock motors, gears, and switches burn up. And runtime is typically less than half of stock. This kit incorporates a module that prevents the lithium chemistry from damaging your components. It also includes our Performance 550 motors designed specifically with lithium batteries in mind so you'll sustainably get 60% more speed for onroad and light offroad use than your car went stock. Plus the kit includes our Phoenix gearboxes with hardened steel first gears added for maximum durability. All in an easy-to-install kit.
3. 18v SLA Combo Kit - Our favorite midrange package. This kit gives you the awesome power of 775 motors delivering 4x more offroad torque to get through thick grass, up hills, or carry a second kid. With the 18v SLA batteries you'll gain 40% more speed than stock and have over 30% more run time too! You'll also have the security of Phoenix gearboxes giving you the durability you need.
4. 24v Combo Kit - Who doesn't want to go REALLY FAST?! This kit will more than DOUBLE your car's speed with 2 massive 775 motors, Phoenix gearboxes with hardened steel first gears, and 24 volts of batteries! By far the most popular upgrade to ride-ons for decades, this kit is well proven to bring smiles to kids and parents!
5. Stage V Motor/Gearboxes - These aren't for everyone. We modified our Phoenix gearboxes with with an even higher top speed gear ratio, making it the fastest of any ride-on gearbox when run at 24v. A noticeable increase in speed even over the Stage IV's. The gearboxes are for single rider, onroad or gravel use only though.
We recommend a Brake Reduction Module with any speed upgrade unless you have hills to contend with or are using our Electronic Speed Control unit.
